As I mentioned before, Taita is the slave of Lord Intef who is the Governor of Upper Egypt. Taita’s story begins in the heart of Egypt, especially in the River Nile which flows through the land of Egypt and flows through his story as well. The country is collapsed and destroyed by enemies because of this separation. Apparently, there are many problems that face the country. At that time, the land was divided into two kingdoms, namely the Lower Egypt and the Upper Egypt. At the beginning, the novel gives us a vivid description about the land of Egypt. The story is in the view point of Taita, the slave of Lord Intef and the protector of his beautiful lady Lostris. Honestly speaking, I have read this novel two times as it is beautifully written at the level of style and language. The novel ‘River God’ is one of the most salient works of Wilbur Smith.
